Nehemiah Festival is now accepting press kit submissions
The Nehemiah Festival, a Christian music and camping event, is scheduled for Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Smithville Lake, north of Kansas City, MO.
This second year event has been established to promote unity within the body of Christ. The Nehemiah Festival Construction Crew is made of up entirely of volunteers from area Christian churches, organizations and business. There are no major promoters involved in the production or planning. The business plan for this event is clearly defined in the book of Nehemiah.
It is our intent to make this event only as big as God wants it and free to the public. Bathed in prayer, the blueprint for the Nehemiah Festival relies heavily on sponsorships, donations, gift-in-kind services and volunteer help.
We are now officially accepting press kits from bands and artists for this event.
Submission criteria and content:
- As this a family oriented event, we are looking for Christian artists and bands of all styles and genres.
- Press kits should include the following:
- Biography of the band, to include mission statement and band member names and role
- Photo of the band
- Audio samples of music
- A list of prior performance dates and locations
- Any articles or press about the artist or band
- Contact information to include e-mail and website information
- Press kits should be mailed to:
David Lin
Attn: Nehemiah Fest – Performers
P.O. Box 917
Smithville, MO 64089
- All submissions must be postmarked by July 1, 2008.
- Professional Electronic Press kits will be accepted if they contain the above cited information. (i.e. Sonicbids, or up to date Indieheaven or Kingcat Music profiles, etc.) – Do not send a message for the committee to check out your MySpace this is not considered a valid EPK for the purposes of this event.
As a donation driven event and we are working on a limited budget, your contribution to this effort may be a waiver of any performance fees. Please indicate if you are willing to donate your performance.
All submissions will be cataloged and evaluated. Those selected will be notified by e-mail and provided with additional instructions.
Our current plan includes programming for four stages that will feature a variety of Christian music. Selections will be based on programming needs prayerfully considered by the selection committee. We are excited to announce that a fifth stage will be added this year! This performance area will be an open mic stage for anyone that wants to play. It will be set up primarily for singer/songwriter and small acoustic acts (no drum kits). Performers that are selected to play on one of the four main stages are asked to refrain from participating in the open mic to allow time for others not booked to play the event. Unless of course there is a shortage of open mic participants.
This is not a “pay to play” event, however we hope that all artists and bands will assist in referring financial sponsors to our attention. All donations are tax-deductible. Performers that refer committed financial sponsors are not guaranteed performance slots, but these endorsements will be taken into consideration.
