Akeil Benn
Coffee House Stage on Saturday at 6:00PM
My name is Akeil Benn, Christian artist from Queens, NY. I currently attend Hillside Church of Christ, Jamaica, NY where I serve as one of the worship leaders, and leader of the Young Adult Bible Study Group.
In 2003 I moved to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago, with a love for music and a desire to be the most popular Caribbean artist, singing songs about girls, sex, and partying.
However, it was difficult to ignore the call of God in my life, and the tug of the Holy Spirit in my heart. Growing up in church, I knew that I should use my talents for the Lord, but I had no desire to do so. I remember sitting in my living room one day and I prayed and asked God to give me a desire to serve him and care about the things that he cares about. Since that day, I decided to commit to being more involved in church, submit myself to learn the word of God, and use my talents for him.
I would like to be a part of Nehemiah Fest to continue to share the love of Jesus with others through music; even interacting with others off the stage. And I get to do this with some really cool music. We can rock out to the song “Your Right Hand” that talks about us hoping in the power, strength, and love of our God. We can sway from side to side as we sing out “Hallelujah”, reflecting on the beauty and majesty of God in creation. Whichever songs I get the opportunity to sing, know that Jesus will be exalted, his word will be shared in music, and hearts will be blessed.
Thank you in advance for the consideration.
